When you are not making the most of your potential then you are allowing others to set the standards for you. You should not allow your critics or competitors to determine the standards that you set for youreslf.

As a martial artist of thirty years I am still always striving for exellence in my forms and techniques and am applying this concept to my blog.

Psychology professor Jon Johnson points out the difference between mere success and excellence: “Success bases our worth on a comparison with others; excellence measures against our own potential. Success grants its rewards to the few but is the dream of the multitudes. Excellence is available to all living beings, but is accepted only by the few.”

What steps are you taking to improve your strive for excellence with your blog?

Very thought provoking question you have put up there. Personally I am trying to connect to my readers to know what do they want to read about.
After all, I am not writing for myself :)

    David,
Now that I know you have been studying martial arts for 30 years I will be sure to say something nice. lol

You pose an excellent question and it is one that I am trying to incorporate in my 2 blogs. I seem to be drawn to writing about social media but as we know, social media blogs are a dime a dozen these days. Therefore I am looking for ways to make mine stand out, by saying something that is not just a rehash of what I have read somewhere else. It’s harder than it might sound to keep up with all the new tools and tricks out there and blog about them without being repititious. My goal is to make people think, but at the same time have fun.

But in the long run, it has to be worth it for me, because ultimately I am the only reader that I am trying to satify.

Thanks for the post and for the inspiring quote. See you in Twitterville.

I so agree with you King. It really is all about connecting with your readers and knowing what they do and want to read about. Connecting with and knowing what your readers do and want to read about is key.

David, I like the look of your blog. I feel like I am sitting at a desk in a pleasant room.

What I am doing to keep up my own blog has a lot to do with trying to seek out like minded collaborators. Interviews are only as good as the subject so I am trying to reach out to more different people in more interesting ways.
