Yes here I am again with this dreaded writers block. It seems just as you find your on a flow this thing called writers block steps in and holts your progress.

I am now finding that if I want to get back into the flow of writing I am just going to have to adopt the concept of the warrior and the pen or as the Nike logo would say Just Do It!

I suppose when I look back and analyze this thing called writers block it is an accumulation of my own imaginary fear’s of failure and the perception of having to be perfect every time I make an attempt to create new content for a new post or article.

Time now to follow my own advice and apply some straggic measures to over come this writers block.

1) Do 20mins of Tai Chi and resume writing.

2) Go for at least an hours walk around the block.

3) Listen to an inspirational sound track.

4) Watch an inspirational DVD.

5) Go make a cake !!!

6) Go wash the car.

7) Get egg timer out and set for 20 mins while writing. Only answer phone when 20 mins is up.

8) Have a reminder on the wall that say’s “No body is perfect”.

Know for my next article.

Hi Dave, I really can relate to this post, writers block is a hurdle I need to jump over right now. I do try to be tooo perfect, instead of just getting it out there. Also I have some information to share I get stuck on how to share it or what I want to really say.

I know as you have said “just do it” means just that put something out at least to get going.

Thanks for the reminder, it’s time to get back out there and ‘just do it’.

Look forward to your next post

Thoughtful tips, I will write that reminder and hang it on my wall. Since, whenever I’m trying to get everything 100% perfect, it often ends with me just sitting there, writing nothing at all.

As for #3 on your list, could you give us some tips on soundtracks, which give you the inspiration to write?

The sound tracks I use for inspiration to write are film scores such as “Enter The Dragon”, “Terminater” and many more with an epic theme to them. Hope this tip helps.

    David,
I know the feeling of writers block. I have it constantly!
I think taking a break to clear your mind is a great method to getting back on track.
    Good luck with your writing!

I am so glad that I am not the only one with this feeling of having writers block. I will take your advice Ken on taking a break to clear my mind. Many thanks for the tip and the reply.

Looks like we’re thinking about the same things today.

I wish I could do Tai Chi. Maybe I need to follow you a little closer to find out more about it.

I like you Casey often use to say to myself “I wish I could do Tai Chi”. The fact is Casey you can and once you begin to get into the flow you’ll think to yourself “why did it take me this long to get into it”. I am working on a batch of martial arts posts that I will be posting in the martial arts catorgary of my blog. Tai Chi is one of the arts that I will be posting about so feel free to follow me to find out more about it.

I use to get writers block trying to always produce the perfect article. I finally realized I just need to produce a good article. I read a lot of blogs and none of them blow me away everyday with their articles. You need to keep your readers entertained with every post (or at least most of them), but you don’t have to blow them away with every post.

Reading books, blogs or peoples problems on forums (related to my niche) help with my writers block. So that is what I suggest. Also, spending an entire day away from the computer somewhere preferably in nature, fresh air … that will go a long way into rebooting your mind.
